Our Hamilton Tiger-Cats-inspired art print was created to honour the birthplace of organized football in Canada. The current Tiger-Cats were formed in 1950 when two teams (the Hamilton Tigers and Wildcats) merged to join the CFL, but their history dates back much farther. On November 3, 1869, a meeting took place in a room above George Lee's Fruit Store. On that day the Hamilton Football Club was formed and so began Hamilton's, and Canada's, rich football history.

In 1869, the Hamilton Football Club played their first game against English troops stationed in Montreal. That same year they began to play in the Ontario Rugby Football Union and played their home games on the Maple Leaf Baseball Club Grounds at Upper James Street. And the rest, as they say, is Ti-Cat history.
