1990-kawasaki-650-jet-ski
1990 Kawasaki 650 Jet-Ski

By 1990, stand-up Jet Skis had developed a following all their own. Riders weren't simply looking for a way to get out on the water. They wanted speed, agility, and the challenge of mastering a machine that demanded a little skill.

The 1990 Kawasaki 650 Jet Ski came from the golden era of stand-up personal watercraft. Powered by a 650cc two-stroke twin-cylinder engine, the JS650 brought more performance to Kawasaki's established stand-up design, helping make it a favourite among recreational riders and racing enthusiasts alike.

The Story Behind Our 1990 Kawasaki 650 Jet Ski Art Print

Kawasaki had pioneered the stand-up Jet Ski in the 1970s, and by the early 1990s, the sport had evolved into a passionate community of riders, racers, and weekend enthusiasts. The 650 represented that evolution, combining the familiar stand-up riding experience with the power and responsiveness that made these machines so much fun.

I've always appreciated the purposeful design of the original stand-up Jet Skis. The narrow hull, pivoting handlepole, and compact proportions leave little doubt about what the machine was built to do. I chose the 1990 650 because it captures a particularly memorable period in PWC history, when performance and rider skill mattered as much as horsepower. Its distinctive shape and graphics also make it a great subject for a clean, photorealistic piece of industrial art.

For Kawasaki fans and vintage PWC collectors, the 650 brings back memories of early mornings on calm water, learning to carve tighter turns, bouncing across boat wakes, and the occasional spectacular wipeout. It's a collectible reminder of the days when riding a Jet Ski was as much a physical activity as a way to enjoy the lake.

Why You’ll Love It

Classic Kawasaki Heritage: A nod to the manufacturer that pioneered the stand-up Jet Ski and helped create an entirely new watersport.

650cc Two-Stroke Performance: Captures an important era when Kawasaki's 650-powered machines became favourites among recreational and competitive riders.

Stand-Up Riding Nostalgia: A reminder of carving turns, jumping wakes, unexpected swims, and the satisfaction of mastering a stand-up machine.

PWC History Worth Collecting: A distinctive addition to any collection dedicated to Kawasaki Jet Skis, vintage personal watercraft, and the evolution of stand-up riding.

Photorealistic Fine Art: Detailed rendering captures the hull, graphics, handlebars, materials, and mechanical character of the original machine.

Modern, Minimalist Presentation: A clean solid background lets the Jet Ski's purposeful shape and vintage styling take centre stage.

Where It Belongs

At the cottage, boathouse, lake house, garage, workshop, or anywhere vintage watersports and great recreational machines deserve some wall space.
