Action Hero Art Print: Superman

Our Superman art print takes DC Comics fans, or any super hero action figure fan, back to the early days of the invention of pop-culture icons. Superman's creator, Joe Shuster, was a Cleveland-based, Toronto-born cartoonist. The Shuster family included his cousin Frank who would go on to become half of the famous Wayne and Shuster comedy duo. As a small boy, Joe's father Julius would read the comics to him from the Toronto Star. Later he became a newspaper boy for the paper on the downtown streets among skyscrapers of Canada's rapidly growing metropolis.

At age seventeen, the concept of a "strange visitor from another planet with powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal men" evolved with his buddy, Jerry Siegel. DC comics gave the duo's idea a shot, and in June of 1938, Seigel's stories and Shuster illustrations were launched. Sadly the two had no legal rights to what became a huge money maker for DC Comics.
