Our San Jose Sharks-Inspired hockey art print reflects the recent history and brand of one of the NHL's newer teams. The Sharks were founded in 1991 when the NHL brought hockey back to the San Francisco Bay area. The one and only NHL team to play there previously were the California Golden Seals, a team that was eventually relocated to Cleveland as the Barons in 1976. Fans submitted over 5,000 names for their new team and first-place finisher was "Blades," but the owners did not want to associate the team name with a weapon and went with the second most popular name, Sharks. Today the Sharks play out of the Shark Tank and remain one of the NHL's highest-grossing merchandise teams for their bold logo.
Our San Jose Sharks-Inspired vintage hockey art print was created for passionate Sharks fans like you that love the game, your team and its roots. It celebrates aspects of the team history, brand and name, blending modern day design with heritage inspired elements such as an old map of San Jose dating back to the late 1800s, mercury drops as a nod to the region's gold and mercury mining past, antique hockey sticks and a photo illustration of a Great White Shark, the team's namesake.
This unique art print is ideal for framing and makes a great addition to any Sharks, or NHL sport art enthusiast's man cave or modern home decor.
