In mid-1941, de Havilland in England placed an order for 400 Mosquitoes with its Canadian subsidiary. De Havilland Canada would go on to build 869 bomber, 337 fighter and 25 training aircraft in nine different versions. The RCAF only retained part of this production for service in Canada, equipping one fighter squadron and one school in Canada. The rest would equip RAF squadrons overseas.

Artist's Note

This photorealistic rendition is my artistic interpretation of an aircraft of this type. As I create my pieces, I draw inspiration from multiple sources, adding details with a creative lens. This particular image is a composite concept of that process. The dates shown on each piece indicate when the aircraft was “taken on strength.” The paint colour and markings on this piece are not meant to accurately depict the aircraft when it came into service. Most aircraft were in service for many years and assigned to various theatres of operation and squadrons. Ultimately, my final conceptual renderings may not—in fact, most often—are not 100% historically accurate. The RCAF 100th Centennial identifier signifies that the Royal Canadian Air Force approves this reproduction.

Framing
PLEASE NOTE: Frames are NOT sold separately (only purchased WITH prints)

Framing made easy (and affordable)

We hear it all the time... people love to buy art but often decide against it because the cost of framing is an extra expensive. Not at ManMade Art. We founded our store on the principle that high-quality art should be affordable, and  we continue to stand by that by offering quality framing at a reasonable price.

ManMade Art's custom-made, gallery-style frames are made in Canada and include materials 100% sourced from Canadian businesses.

Solid Wood Construction

Ordering your items in frames ensures you unwrap your order ready to hang! Our limited edition products all ship in frames crafted from solid wood and finished with a low-lustre matte black lacquer.

Thick acrylic glazing

Each order is framed behind acrylic, also known as 'plexiglass. Using acrylic ensures your order reaches you safely and unbroken. Acrylic has the same, if not higher, optical clarity as glass. And, unlike big-box store frames that typically use paper-thin acrylic, our glazing is 2mm thick—equal to the thickness of standard framing glass or roughly the thickness of two dimes.

ManMade to Order (and hang)

Every order is installed in its frame with sturdy, rigid framing points and sealed with an acid-free backing sheet that protects your art from infiltrating dust and insects. Combined with a sawtooth hanger and silicone bumpers, your piece will hang perfectly without marking or discolouring your walls.
